Fair – The Best Worst-Case Scenario

Fair - The Best Worst-Case ScenarioAs far as some bands go, there are those that are good and those that are really good. Fair, falls into the latter category without even trying.

Fair is kind of a brainchild of Aaron Sprinkle formally of Poor Old Lu. I say kind of since I’m sure he didn’t just grab a bunch of musicians to back him. If you are familar with Aaron Sprinkle’s solo work (and if you’re not, shame on you) then the overall Fair sound should not come as too much of a shock to your system. What will come as a shock is that you remember that this man’s lyrics rock over anything. While his solo work is more acoustic based, Fair is solid rock and roll. And Aaron’s simple lyrics work wonders over the melodic music that backs him. The guitar work is solid and the drums above average. Everything here keeps your attention from the get go and doesn’t let go until long after the song is done playing.

I’ve heard it said that the two things you can’t hide are melody and a good song. Fair has both of these and more. So get to your local Christian bookstore and if they don’t have it, order directly from the band or iTunes. Either way you’re not to be disappointed while you wait for more to come from Fair.

Sirius Satellite Tuner for Yahoo! Widgets

In an attempt to become more productive, I just reinstalled Yahoo! Widgets here at the office to utilized some of the calendar and todo widgets. While search through the widget gallery I found this that lets me log into my Sirius radio account and stream channels to my work PC.

This has got to be the coolest widget ever.

This widgets supports the Artist Seek so I can make sure I know when my favorite artists are being played and even has an alarm clock feature built in.

Well it’s Floodin’ Down in Texas…

Ok, so not really but, a lot of rain came down real quick and got the water in my neighborhood to come up over the curbs and up to the actual sidewalk at my house and well into some other people’s yards. Some of my shots were blurry because my friend Derek was busy trying not to get water into his car.

GnuPG (OpenPGP)

I have just installed GnuPG (GNU Privacy Guard) which is basically an open source version of PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) which was free many years ago but is so no longer. You can download my public key using the link below. The link above to GnuPG has a link to a Windows version that includes a plugin for Outlook and there is an extension for Mozilla Thunderbird at this link that will utilize the GnuPG key system.

Why do this? Well there are several reason, but one is to ensure that email from me really did in fact come from me. Not that I that I’m some kind of big shot that needs this level of “insurance” but I think it’s good common practice in general and this method (or something similar) should be utilized more often by the general public and major companies (especially those in the financal busines). It also allows me to encrypt messages as I need to and basically keep my privacy.

So if you plan on emailing me, be sure to grab my public key (using the link below) and add it to your keyring.
