Nelly Furtado’s thrid album “Loose” is, from what I can tell, a departure from the style that made her popular. While I’ll admit that the only thing I have to go on are the singles from her previous albums those singles gave me the impression that the previous albums were, for lack of a better word, poppy. “Loose” is more hip-hop oriented and this is probably due in large part to the producer Timberland. While this album is pretty good as a whole (it managed to hold my interest, which most “top 40” doesn’t really do) the first half of the record is far more interesting than the second half. The second half of “Loose” is litered with ballads, and only a few upbeat tunes and seems less coherant in general while the first half seems to really stick in way of style and flow.
Overall, I give it a 6 out of 10.

Tonight marks the season premieres for the HBO shows, “Deadwood” and “Entourage”, both in their third season.
I have to say that both shows had very strong premieres tonight with “Deadwood” probably taking the prize for best in show. “Deadwood” is just shot incredibly well, the director of photography chooses his shots very carefully and it makes for very good television.
I do not however what you to think that “Entourage” was somehow sub-par in it’s showing this evening. Quite the contrary, it was probably one of the best episodes of the show second probably only to my personaly favorite “Sundance Kids” from the second season.
If you have not had the change to watch either of these shows, I highly recommend picking up the DVDs from your choice of retail store or rental venue and watch the first two season. I recommend “Deadwood” to any fan of “The Sopranos” and “Entourage” to any guy who’s girl made him watch “Sex and the City”. Be advised that neither show is for a child’s eyes and viewer discretion is highly advised.
Here’s a funny video to enjoy…
Last night I performed this hack on my Linksys WRT54GS router. It is VERY easy to do if you follow the instructions provided by the people who make the replacement firmware. I have since increased my wireless’s transmission power so I now get 95% connection status from the OTHER end of my house, which is good considering it was almost non-existant before. I was also able to set up QoS (Quality of Service) so that my downloading gets priority ONLY if the phone (we use Vonage in our house) or my vpn are not being used. So far I have to say it’s pretty nifty and Linksys gets extra points for using GPL software in their routers.
