Over the Hedge

Today, April and I took Cloe to see “Over the Hedge”, the latest computer animation film from Dreamworks. It’s a good kid movie with just enough to keep the older folks interested. Ben Folds (of Ben Folds Five and now just Ben Folds) did the score which is pretty cool including the re-written “Rockin’ the Suburbs” for the end credits. Overall opinion is if you have kids, take them to see it. If you don’t have kids you probably won’t go see this movie anyway.

X-Men: The Last Stand

Today, after attending a graduation and a graduation after-party the wife and I went and saw the latest in the X-Men franchise “X-Men: The Last Stand” and I must say I was fairly impressed. They truley held back zero punches, you’ll be surprised who comes out of this one and who doesn’t. I must say that while I didn’t really expect much to begin with (I know from previous experiance how bad sequels can be) the movie was beyond my expectations. I will withhold from saying more than “it’s good, go see it” because I don’t want to ruin anything for those that might be interested in seeing it still.

Kay Hanley – Babydoll EP

Kay Hanley - Babydoll EPI just finished listening to Kay Hanley’s latest CD “Babydoll EP” (click on album cover to hear samples & purchase). For those that do not aleady know, Kay Hanley was the lead singer for 90’s rock outfit called Letters to Cleo and is the singing voice of Josie in the Rachel Leigh Cook movie “Josie and the Pussycats.” This is her second solo studio record since the split of Letters to Cleo (“Cherry Marmalade” was the first) and is more of the same.

Do not misunderstand that as a bad thing. If it’s one thing Kay Hanley does well it’s good girl rock/pop songs. Forget Alanis and Sheryl, Kay Hanley reall does rock out. This is proven in songs like “Te Amo” and “Lullaby Lucky” and this does not mean she is without a soft side. The title track is a perfect ballad-ish tune. If you’re looking for good girl rock look no further than this CD.

Hello world!

Welcome to my personal blog. This website was originally going to be used for my music stuff but since that is currently and indefinatly on hold I’ve decided to make this my personal blogging site. Currently I’m using WordPress for the blog because I’m using Drupal on my family’s website at TheKobys.com. This should help me get more familiar with another popular blog software and expand my knowledge of such websites.

What can you expect from mkoby.com? The answer is simple. You’ll find stuff about technology since that’s the field I’m in. You’ll also find information on music such as CD reviews, concert updates/reviews, and band reviews. Also movie reviews will pop up shortly and anything else I deem worthy to discuss (it is my website after all).

I’m trying to make the this the stop for my person blogs and keep TheKobys.com the “family” website.
