Wal-Mart, everyone’s favorite (or not so favorite) retailer has launched their movie download store. Decent pricing is the name of the game here with older movies starting at around $7 and TV Shows at just under $2. The upside is that Wal-Mart has managed to land a deal with most of the movie studios so their selection beats iTunes by a mile.
The downside is that the downloads do not currently (and probably never will) work with iPods which has, probably, the largest market share of any portable media player. This also means that I will not be purchasing movies from Wal-Marts download store. Looks like it is still hours of ripping and encoding for me.
