Google is set to acquire email security company, Postini.  You can read the press release for more information.

What I find interesting is the 1) the price and 2) this is Google’s second acquisition in as many weeks.  A 625 million dollar price tag is certainly steep considering the GrandCentral price is unclassified.  Google seems to be setting out on a on mission to acquire a company a week.  Who knows where this is going to lead.

The Postini acquisition makes sense because of what the company does with regards to email security and spam detection.  The GrandCentral acquisition is still a little weird because it really calls into question exactly what Google’s got planned for the future.
