Five Television Shows Everyone Should Watch

Television is a great way to relax after a hard day’s work or even just to enjoy some quality time with one’s self or others.  While some people would argue that television is the best way for a couple to stop talking to one another, but my wife and I find some great conversations while watching television.  And we don’t always watch the news.  Below is a list of some of the shows we’ve been watching recently and some insight to them.

5) Eureka (SciFi): This show is at number five only because the first episode aired in a two hour premiere event last Tuesday on the SciFi channel and since I have only seen two episodes that I like so far, this show has a very interesting concept. The basis of the show is that there is small American town where all of our top scientists live and develop new technology for the government and new comer Carter is about to find out that in this town, things can go wrong in a very big way. Think combination regular prime time drama meets science fiction and you’ve got a pretty good idea of what this show is like.
4) House (Fox): This show is one of April’s (my wife) favorites and it has grown on me more with each episode I watch. This is not your typical hospital drama. Sure patients come in with what seem like impossible to solve problems but what makes this show so great is House’s dialouge. You are never really sure if he’s a genius, lucky, or just flat out mean. This show takes some getting used to but once it gets you, it’s got you long term.

3) Weeds (Showtime) [Occasionally Mature Audiences Only]: Since I got cable six months ago, I have made it a priority to watch the original series that exist on the premium channels. While I started with the HBO serie, I recently discovered Showtimes original programming. Weeds is 30 minutes of some of the best television on right now. And with season two coming in August, you have a good month to rent/buy the season one DVDs. This show is about suburban house wife who begins selling weed in her small California suburb where secerets are anything but.

2) Entourage (HBO) [Mature Audiences Only]: The show that started it all for me. A good friend of mine recommended this show to me and from the first two episodes I was hooked. The show focuses on a rising movie star in Hollywood who has brought his two best friends with him and helps his brothers ailing carrer. This show is best described as Sex and the City for men with better dialogue. The show is only thirty minutes long but it always leave you wanting more.

1) Deadwood (HBO) [Mature Audiences Only]: While Entourage is good, Deadwood is better. Deadwood is what good television is all about. Forget the Sorpanos, Deadwood is meaner, grittier, and is filmed better in almost every way. Deadwood is one of those shows everyone should be watching every Sunday night. The writing is top notch, it’s mix of Shakespearean flare and modern wordsmithing along with cinematography that could rival most of Hollywood’s big budget flicks, and some of the best character development ever you can not go wrong with this show. No matter why you like televisions, movie, or any other media you will find something to like about Deadwood.

Do you have a television show you like?  Shoot me a comment about it and be sure to include the channel it is on so that I can set up the DVR to record it.  Lets share our favorites with each other.
