Here is a nice little article with Microsoft’s own Cheif Information Officer (CIO) about how Microsoft uses it’s own products internally from the Alpha testing period of a product all the way through release. This process which they refer to as “dog-fooding” allows them to find as many bugs as possible before release.
While I know that Microsoft is prone to releasing software with all kinds of bugs, I do know that they are not the only company guilty of such a travesty. But it is interesting to read how they deploy new software internally before giving it to the public.
